If you're more of a boozer than a foodie, think of this as the opportunity to reform yourself -- while still catching a decent buzz. The Himmarshee Bar and Grill (210 SW Second St., Fort Lauderdale) will school you in the finer points of quaffing during complimentary winetastings from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. on Tuesdays. Each week, a representative from a different winery comes to the restaurant's loungey Side Bar to explain how the various vintages are made. So far, enologists (wine experts) from Argyle Winery, Sanford Winery, and the Morro Bay Vineyards have made the trip. This week, the Side Bar has both a yummy Raymond Vineyards Merlot and a sweet Bonny Doon Riesling on tap. The restaurant also dishes up complimentary appetizers -- sometimes wine and cheese or, when it's feeling flush, risotto balls or salmon carpaccio (according to General Manager Jeff Berke, that's kinda like "Italian sashimi" -- raw, thinly sliced salmon). Get 10 percent off your meal if you stay for din-din. Then, if you dig what they're dishin', come back on Thursday and join the "wine club." You'll be issued a wine book with your name on it, and every time you come in, your server will note which wine you order and what you eat, then peel off the label and paste it in your book as a souvenir. Pet tricks that don't lick balls

For most pet owners, the only trick Fluffy knows involves a lonely night and a jar of Skippy, with the occasional fetch routine. But for animal trainer and former Moscow Circus star performer Gregory Popovich, pet tricks are about a lot more then chasing Frisbees and licking sack. Popovich's Comedy Pet Theatre, showing this weekend at Crest Theatre (51 N. Swinton Ave., Delray Beach), stars eight dogs and 15 house cats that Popovich rescued from the pound. The show combines European-style skits, juggling, fun pet tricks, and comedy, all while Popovich wears a clown suit. The show offers something for everyone, and you won't feel guilty looking Fluffy in the eyes afterward.
