Woody, With Reed
People used to say that Ted Williams was that rare person whos best in the world at two things: hitting a baseball and flying a plane. Well, Woody Allen is that rare person who, if not the best in the world at all, is a damn fine specimen as a writer, director, and clarinetist. Granted, he last won Oscars for his work in film in 1986 (though, dont forget, his actresses keep winning for their performances), but for the clarinet work ah, there his ability may actually outstrip his fame. Each Monday, he and the rest of his New Orleans Jazz Band pack the Carlyle in Manhattan (thats $75 just to sit at the bar); next year, its back to tour Europe. But this month its two dates in Florida, where were just guessing more people will see Allens jazz band than paid to see The Curse of the Jade Scorpion. Check out the Big Apples taste of the Big Easy at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday the 30th at the Kravis Center (701 Okeechobee Blvd., West Palm Beach) for $25 to $150 a ticket. Visist kravis.org, or call 561-832-7469.
