Falling on the person next to you is one way to get up close and personal at a roller rink, but it's not recommended. At Saturday's reggae-flavored "Up Close and Personal," you don't need wheels to get in on the action. Hosted by Hot 105's Lady English and LynksFM.com's Sir Rockwell, the event features performances by Nadine Sutherland, Kashief Lindo, and headliner Tanya Stephens, the Jamaican-born dancehall star whose female-centric anthems have been her calling card for more than a decade. (Stephens' breakthrough hit, 1996's "Yuh Nuh Ready fi Dis Yet," posed the question: "Have ya ever wonder what make a girl cum?") Now on the heels of her latest album, Rebelution, Stephens hasn't let down her lyrical gauntlet (tackling infidelity and racism) or gotten soft on the beats.

Tanya Stephens, Nadine Sutherland, and Kashief Lindo perform Saturday, October 14, at Gold Coast Roller Rink, 2604 S. Federal Hwy., Fort Lauderdale. Doors open at 9 p.m. Tickets cost $30. Call 954-467-5558.
