She's grown increasingly confident with each passing album, and if "So What" and "Bad Influence" aren't all that musically innovative, she sells them on the power of her gimlet-eyed sass alone. It's not surprising that some of the ballads are merely passable, and on "Mean," she not only rhymes sad, bad, and had — way to go out on a limb, Mrs. Seuss — but she also makes the dubious decision to imitate Kid Rock. And yet, her personality is strong enough to overcome every obstacle, including ones she creates herself. Considering that Iggy Pop made a career out of doing the exact same thing, the album title makes more sense.
