Electric Frankenstein's not the first band you'd expect to hear in a PS2 game, much less one that caters to mall punks. But sure enough, the New Jersey-based foursome has a track featured on Tony Hawk's Underground. Then again, EF has popped up in stranger places, namely Garry Sharpe-Young's book A-Z of Doom, Gothic, & Stoner Metal. Of course, there's nothing gothic or stoner about EF, whose big-balled riffs are packed with enough wattage to reanimate even a large corpse. There's no cutesy indie pop here, just pure, unaffected rock 'n' roll. They're like a modern-day Dead Boys — but very much alive... alive!

Electric Frankenstein performs with Find Them to Fight Them and the Drug Czars on Friday, August 18, at Maguire's Hill 16, 535 N. Andrews Ave., Fort Lauderdale. The show starts at 10 p.m. and costs $10. Call 954-764-4453, or visit www.lowfidelityevents.com.
