Except for those pesky seasonal hurricanes, the weather outside is hardly frightful. Especially not during February, when it's more like, well, delightful. But if you've no place to go and you don't want to break it to your kids that the average temperature in South Florida this time of year is 70 degrees (like they didn't know), throw a parka over your bikini and head to Tradewinds Park (3600 W. Sample Rd., Coconut Creek) for Snowfest. You don't have to tell them the snow didn't actually fall from the sky in wondrous flurries but was instead chopped up in a machine and blown into age-appropriate piles. The giant penguin (who's on hand to pose for pictures) might break a sweat, but hey, we're not talkin'. Come sleet or shine, Eskimo wannabes age 11 and younger can enjoy fake snow, make arts and crafts, and play winter games like snowball tossing. Park Manager Cheryl Thompson put in an order for a "cool snap," but if the temps creep above freezing, you can always take advantage of the rest of the 599-acre park's offerings, like pony rides, hayrides, tours of the Tradewinds Farm Complex, and the Model Steam Railroad. Admission is $3 for children, and the snow falls at 11 a.m. Penguin photos, pony rides, and farm tours cost extra. Call 954-968-3880.

Mr. Brian is ready to rock

A 3-year-old pineapple named Jensen and dog called Johann Sebastian Bark provide backup for the talented human musician known as Mr. Brian. At concerts, this long-haired rocker and his Boppet (Muppet-like) friends invite kids in the audience to join their band, thus helping them understand musical concepts like rhythm, timbre, and tempo. They take their show on the road from their Jensen Beach base (where they also star in a TV show called Mr. Brian's Sound Around Town) to perform at Sugar Sand Park, 300 S. Military Trl., Boca Raton. They don't cover "Free Bird," but you should expect to hear "Wee-Bop-Rock" and "If You Don't Take a Bath." Showtimes are 10 a.m. Saturday and 1 p.m. Sunday. Cost is $7 for adults, $5 for children 12 and younger. Call 561-347-3948.
