Yeah, meat is murder. Which is one way to describe San Diego-based death-metal band Cattle Decapitation. If some Broadway producer decides to base a musical on the hard-core lives of roadies for People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals, Cattle Decapitation will probably get the nod to write the score and lyrics. The band, which cleaved off in the mid-'90s from its San Diego hardcore parent cell, the Locusts, experienced a morphing roster before settling on the current foursome led by vocalist Travis Ryan. Cattle D revels in the pro-vegetarian/pro-gore dichotomy. Look at the images accompanying its 2004 release, Humanure, skip Micky D's drive-through, and listen for inspiration to the same-titled song: "This is what you've become/The end result of human stupidity/Another mesh of flesh with no dignity/A solid waste with dull neuronal activity." Hungry?

Cattle Decapitation plays with New York death-metal band Suffocation at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, January 20, at the Culture Room, 3045 N. Federal Hwy., Fort Lauderdale. Tickets cost $14. Call 954-564-1074.
