Devin Marsh, a.k.a. Nori Nori, is not your typical musician. A graduate of the prestigious Berklee College of Music and a recipient of a B.A. in music education and a master's in studio production, the former elementary school teacher and his merry band of men tap into roots reggae, jazz, soca, and R&B, fusing these genres into one funky unit every Friday night at the Cove in Deerfield Beach. While the dreadlocked Nori Nori has perfected the art of the reggae anthem, he also has words for the struggling dancehall and reggae communities. "Right now, the gay-bashing lyrics have turned the perception of reggae music from a positive thing to a negative one," he says. "The foundation of reggae used to be uplifting; now people think it is all about preaching hatred." -- Lady English
