Its funny how Tampa Bay fans dont particularly care for South Florida. Perhaps its because we had an NFL team long before they were considered for one. Or maybe its because when they built a domed baseball stadium to lure an MLB team from another city, Miami got a team first. But where Tampa Bay did get ahead was hockey: The Lightning started during the 1992 season while the Panthers were born a year later. The two meet at 5 p.m. Sunday at the BankAtlantic Center (1 Panther Way, Sunrise. It never seems that both teams are surging at the same time they are either down or on the way up (besides, every team in the Southeast Division seems to hate the Washington Capitals more anyway). The Panthers have the edge in the season series 2 to 1. Two games have been decided by a goal. So maybe there is something about the Lightning that gets the Panthers going. Tickets start at $10.
