Few people can boast the success Joan Rivers has achieved during her half-century on the stage. Since reaching stardom on The Tonight Show in the Sixties, the raspy-voiced fossil has gone on to become a best-selling author, Tony-nominated actress, playwright, screenwriter, motion picture director, columnist, lecturer, and syndicated radio host, not to mention she’s also an Emmy Award-winning television talk-show host, jewelry designer, and red-carpet fashion wag. Yet some believe the comedic icon has spent her lifetime trying hard to become someone else. When she takes the stage tonight at the Arsht Center (1300 Biscayne Boulevard, Miami) watch as Rivers tries even harder to peel away the mask she’s paid plastic surgeons a fortune to create with her self-deprecating humor.

Catch America’s rudest woman at 8:00 p.m. during her one-night-only performance, where she will sling the barbs while boasting more botox than her audience. Tickets start at $34.50 Call 305-949-6722 or visit arshtcenter.org.
Wed., Nov. 11, 8 p.m., 2009
