Ever wonder what would happen if your biology lab was transformed into a heated, sweaty dance party? At Dancelab, instructors dubbed “Danceologists,” use a scientific approach to body movin’ that replaces the four main elements of earth, air, fire and water with strength, flexibility, coordination and endurance. They also use a periodic table that’s broken down into categories of rhythm, tribal and street instead of the usual chlorine, bromine, and iodine.

Today, at the Hallandale Cultural Community Center (410 S.E. 3rd Street, Hallandale Beach), you can learn a fusion of belly dancing, Latin styles, and hip-hop with the free community dance class, Dancelab Explosion. The three-and-a-half-hour instructional features three series: Fitness Global Beat, Belly Dancing Reinvented, and Urban Moves, and will also feature live music and a fashion show. Start time is 12:30 p.m. Log onto www.dancelab.us or call 954-457-1452 for more information.
