The spirit of Barbera Streisand lingers over every well-intentioned Funny Girl revival. It must. After all, that dynamite crooner culled many a golden statuette for channeling comedienne Fanny Brice. Several FG stage incarnations and one film adaptation later (we won’t mention that clunker sequel, shudder), it’s still hard finding a fiercely charismatic vaudevillian songbird to top Streisand’s legendary vocal power and chutzpah.

Thankfully, actress Irene Adjan has the lungpower to pull it off. She’s headlining the award-winning musical barnburner, about a stage-struck New Yorker nobody who lands top-billing in the variety show-cum-lavish-revue Ziegfeld Follies. And you best believe Adjan’s performance deserves a wink ´n’ nod from Streisand herself. Watch Adjan belt those show tunes tonight at 2 and 8 p.m. at the Rose and Alfred Miniaci Performing Arts Center (3100 Ray Ferrero Jr. Blvd., Fort Lauderdale). Performances run through Dec. 2 and tickets are $37 to $40. Call 954-462-0222, or visit www.miniacipac.com.
Fridays-Sundays. Starts: Nov. 24. Continues through Dec. 1, 2007
