The name Sinbad conjures up one of two images: a Persian sailor in a vest and swishy pants, or a black comedian in a vest and swishy pants. (And, no, Sinbad is not Persian for swishy pants; we checked.) Now, if you grew up in the ’80s, we know what you’re thinking: Sinbad came with a world populated by scholastically minded academics wearing puzzle-patterned sweaters. They never used swear words, and they spent their summers doing volunteer work. It was a wholesome world. It was a happy world. It was A Different World. And dammit, we admit it, we laughed. If you laughed too at Coach Carter — you’ll be happy to hear that Sinbad will perform at 8 p.m. Thursday, 8 and 10:30 p.m. Friday, 7 and 9:45 p.m. Saturday, and 7 p.m. Sunday at the West Palm Beach Improv, located in Cityplace, 550 S. Rosemary Ave., Ste. 250, in West Palm Beach. Tickets are $25. No word on whether the swishy pants or Sinbad the Sailor will be in attendance. Call 561-833-1812 or visit improv.com/ComedyClub/PalmBeach.
