We’re all familiar with the traditional haunted house experience: You go in, things jump at you, you scream, and finally you exit. We’re not saying it’s not fun; we’re just saying it’s been done. But there’s a South Florida way of doing most everything differently — and scaring the crap out of people is no exception. At Snyder Park’s first ever Halloween Festival, you’ll enter the interactive horror trail: Snyder Hollow Mass Mutation Experiment. For 30 minutes you will wend your way through the mutant results of a toxic spill caused, of course, by a tropical storm. Evacuate before you mutate or you’ll miss the Halloweenisphere costume contest and the Monster Ball main stage where more than a dozen bands will perform over eight nights. Tickets are $20 in advance or $25 at the gate from 7 to 11 p.m. October 21 to 24 and 28 to 31. Snyder Park is located at 3299 SW Fourth Ave., Fort Lauderdale. For more information, visit halloweenatsnyderpark.com or call 954-979-7047.
Oct. 21-24, 7 p.m.; Oct. 28-31, 7 p.m., 2010
