It can be hard sometimes to find authenticity in modern-day, fast-paced, ever-expanding South Florida. It seems like every new business is a chain – prepackaged and shiny with a big corporate logo. Locals search out the mom & pops’ and the locally owned which can be hard to find. One of Miami’s oldest and most revered homegrown locales is setting up an outpost in Downtown Fort Lauderdale. Books & Books, the great bastion of the Miami literati has joined forces with the Museum of Art Fort Lauderdale. After months of remodeling, MOAFL will reopen its courtyard area with four days of lectures, special events, and author signings January 13 through 16. The new Books & Books location will be part of MOAFL overhaul, bringing literary art into the fine art museum and bringing Broward booklovers a little authenticity of their own. The MOAFL is located at 1 E. Las Olas Blvd., Andrews Avenue in downtown Fort Lauderdale. For more information, call 954-525-5500 or visit moaflnsu.org.
