“Hey daddy-o/Hey mamma-mo/How about we all go/To the Palm Beach Poetry Festival-o?” Can’t you just hear the fingers going snippity-snap when former poet laureate Robert Pinsky delivers his poetic truths with might and coolness, backed by a jazz trio on Wednesday night? Can’t you just feel the heat that will fill the room when performance poets D. Blair and Taylor Mali ignite with poetic fury as they rave and rhyme at Saturday’s concluding party? Well, I can too, Jack. And that’s why I’m dusting off my beret and memorizing a few key lines of Whitman that I will bust out with perfect, poetic timing at the exact moment that I need to do something cool. From Monday to Saturday, there will be hip cats giving readings and workshops — a total of 11 events — at Old School Square Cultural Arts Center (51 N. Swinton Ave., Delray Beach). Dig. The kickoff reading is at 8 p.m. Tuesday. Admission for all individual events costs $8 to $12. Visit palmbeachpoetryfestival.org, or call 561-868-2063.
