So maybe you think the best thing about state fairs is funnel cake.
Since funnel cake is a foodgasmic taste sensation, you could be right
about that. Still, theres more to the fair than fried foods,
carnies, and the Gravitron. With the South Florida Fair sharing its
ground with the picturesque Yesteryear Village in West Palm Beach
through January 30, theres plenty of room for sideshows. (Sorry, no
bearded ladies here.) On Thursday alone, events will include three
performances of the Kandu Magic Show at 12:30, 3:30, and 7 p.m. in
Yesteryear Village; five presentations of the music choreographed
Laser Show at 1:30, 3:30, 5:30, 7:30, and 9:30 at the Expo Center;
three chances to watch the Extreme Canine Stunt Dog Show at 1:30, 4,
and 3:30 p.m. on the main South Florida Fairgrounds; and the Bike Nite
Parade at 6:30 p.m., also on the fairgrounds. But dont worry; you
old-fashioned types can still puke funnel cake on the Gravitron with
the carnies too. Ah, nostalgia. The South Florida Fair Grounds is
located at 9067 Southern Blvd. in West Palm Beach. The fair opens at
noon Monday through Friday and at 10 a.m. Saturday and Sunday. For
