At Clay Glass Metal Stone Gallery’s second anniversary, there will be a moment of communion with life’s splendor. Hundreds of monarch butterflies will scatter from the showcase windows. This artistic expression can only be symbolic of a larger situation. The existence of this gallery, which exhibits only three-dimensional works, is the result of a lovely gesture by a man named Jay Bernhardt. Two years ago, he generously offered the use of the space for the purpose of an art gallery until he was able to rent or sell it. But there are always unseen forces at work, and fortunately for the cultural scene in Lake Worth, the space has yet to be snatched from the creative hands of the artists. Two years of exhibits and events — including twice-monthly gallery openings, concerts, a fundraiser benefiting Haiti, and a book signing — have ensued. Friday, loyal enthusiasts of Clay Glass Metal Stone Gallery and newcomers alike can celebrate the value of art and generosity together over cake and mimosas.
