Thank you, Maracas, for settling yourself right off US1, right before Oakland Park Boulevard (3001 N. Federal Hwy., Fort Lauderdale) earlier this year. Because US1, home also to the neighboring "B's" — Barnes & Noble, Bed Bath & Beyond, and Best Buy — was a tad boring. And the opposite of boring is not fun — it’s tequila! Like the four glorious types of Mexican tequila mixed in margaritas that cost only two bucks a pop starting at 5 p.m. on Mondays. And there’s more to it: these margaritas come with drink ornaments. Forget tiny swords that break at first joust. There’s an orange plastic mermaid who floats in these drinks, in a lime sea with tequila waves that crash against the rocks. And a tiny green burro — that's a small donkey — chills in the frozen rasberry-flavored marg. Sure, the neighboring “B’s” might have CDs, DVDs, books, and pillow cases, but they don’t have a giant rhinestone lizard! Maracas, your ambience is not overlooked, not with the orange, and yellow, and pink paper lanterns, and enough reflective surfaces to make a House of Mirrors blush.
