The world of burlesque has been constantly evolving and changing since its beginning in the early 1900s. In ancient Greece and throughout Europe, it was considered to be a bawdy form of theatrical satire. Over here in America, the world of Gypsy Rose Lee and her legendary sexually teasing act was considered taboo and forbidden outside of the underground scene. However, decades later, things have obviously changed, and a resurgence of burlesque and vaudeville-style performances has swept the nation. But to be honest, aren't you all getting a little tired of seeing only girls prancing around onstage with pasties on? Isn't it time for the boys to strut their stuff for us?

Well, ladies and gentleman, queen of the burlesque scene Betty Pickle is answering our prayers with her newest venture, Boylesque. Featuring a wild array of performers including EmperRoar Fabulous, Johnny Deep, and Gio Profera, Boylesque promises to light up the stage with sexual wit and vaudeville charm. Here's hoping for a little drag-queen fun too!

Boylesque hits the stage 10 p.m. Saturday at Bill's Filling Station (2209 Wilton Drive, Wilton Manors). The pants start dropping at 10, but you better get there early to secure a spot in the wet zone, since this event is free. Call 954-567-5978, or visit billsfillingstation.com.
