He's not internationally known, or so he says. But as the voice behind one of the most popular hip-hop tracks of all time, 1988's "It Takes Two," Rob Base is known by more than just his native Harlem. Alongside his trusty sidekick, DJ E-Z Rock, Base broke out with the infectious dance track in 1988, eventually earning platinum status. The duo followed up that classic with another successful single, "Joy and Pain." After that, the international fame really did peter out. But Base kept at it. Despite a limited repertoire of singles, he's been rocking microphones for more than 20 years. The duo brings both hits — and its lesser-known tunes — to Fort Lauderdale this Saturday. Yes, it takes more than two songs to make a show go right.

Rob Base and DJ E-Z Rock join Goldie on Saturday, September 2, at Revolution, 200 W. Broward Blvd., Fort Lauderdale. Tickets cost $38 to $45. Doors open at 10 p.m. Call 954-727-0950, or visit www.jointherevolution.net.
