Summer is the season to get together for peace, love, and music. In South Florida, it is also the season when the electric bill zips way past $100 and all your white shirts are stained yellow in the underarm area due to incessant perspiration. Look at it this way: What local promoting company Music Jam Productions is offering at Summer Jam 2012 is a respite from the heat. From noon to 11 p.m. Saturday and noon to 10 p.m. Sunday at Meyer Amphitheatre in downtown West Palm Beach, Music Jam Productions offers relief from the blaring Florida sun and humidity via two full days’ worth of music and irie vibes. Rootz Underground, all the way from Kingston, Jamaica, will make an appearance. With performances at Reggae Sumfest and Welcome to Jamrock festivals, this rootsy reggae ensemble is one of the hottest outfits Kingston has to offer. Also on the bill are Ky-Mani Marley and Toots & the Maytals, for those who enjoy a classic reggae sound, as well as postgrunge rockers Seven Mary Three — for those who don’t care for reggae at all. $25 grants you an all-day pass, or $45 for two days. Meyer Amphitheatre is located at 104 Datura St. in West Palm Beach. Call Music Jam Productions at 561-844-0018, or visit musicjamproductions.com.
Sat., June 23, 12-11 p.m.; Sun., June 24, 12-10 p.m., 2012
