Last year, former New Times Broward-Palm Beach Music Editor Reed Fischer "accidentally" touched a "stranger's greasy hair" at Respectable Street's 24th Anniversary Block Party. Aside from that, and a last-minute cancellation by Missing Persons, the indoor/outdoor fiesta on Clematis Street was an incredibly rambunctious good time. A glance at this year's lineup reveals that this fiesta will definitely follow suit. Especially since some of South Florida's best local bands are sharing the bill with legendary punks the Misfits. Among them, West Palm Beach's the Band in Heaven, who're just one of the bands returning to the block party. A fixture on the South Florida music scene for some time now, the Band in Heaven didn't actually release its debut seven-inch on HoZac Records until earlier this year. We loved the four-track, fuzzy-psychedelic EP so much that we named it our Best Album of 2012. It's just one of at least 20 other noteworthy acts you can dance dorkily around West Palm Beach to this weekend while making new friends and boozing till 4 a.m.
