Maybe it’s the latest season of Downton Abbey. Or perhaps it’s the upcoming premiere of The Great Gatsby. Whatever it is, the style and flair of the Roaring ’20s are back. The Lake Worth Playhouse is setting out to re-create the jazz era’s sense of debauchery and intrigue with a murder-mystery fundraiser. On Wednesday, as a fundraiser and in celebration of its run of The Drowsy Chaperone, which is playing now till February 3, the Lake Worth Playhouse is transforming into an old-fashioned speakeasy. There will be, they say, “men everywhere, jazz everywhere, booze everywhere,” and of course a little murder. Come dressed in full ’20s gear for this interactive theatrical experience. The Speakeasy Murder Mystery Night begins promptly at 7 p.m. Arriving on time is a matter of life and death, given that all clues to solve the mystery need to be heard. The Lake Worth Playhouse is located at 713 Lake Ave. in Lake Worth. Tickets cost $35 and can be purchased at lakeworth-playhouse.ticketleap.com/the-speakeasy.
