In a way, drag is the ultimate male vision of womanhood. If you think about it for a moment, it’s actually a flattering homage. It’s not about the hair, the shoes, the makeup, and the dresses — that is just the medium. A queen’s (and notice they’re called “queens,” not “princesses”) most important accessory, the one thing she must have above all else, is a larger-than-life personality. Her personality must fill the room to overflowing. It must overwhelm you, sweep you under, maybe scare you just a tad, and then win your heart. And if that isn’t the best description of womanhood you’ve ever read, put down this newspaper right now. Miss Richfield 1981 — or Miss R to you sweeties — is a Queen with a capital Q. She is bringing her latest show, Sweet & Sour Richfield Made in China!, to the Manor this weekend. This new production will feature colorful videos, twisted sing-alongs, and a healthy heap of audience interaction. Showtime is 8 p.m. Friday and Saturday. Admission is $25 to $30. The Manor is located at 2345 Wilton Drive in Wilton Manors. Call 954-626-0082, or visit themanorcomplex.com. To learn more about Miss Richfield 1981, visit missrichfield.com.
