As Cinema Paradiso Hollywood comes closer to being a reality in downtown Hollywood, another fundraising party pops up to help it along. Since the first event in February at Face Restaurant -- another Hollywood Boulevard hot spot -- the art-house theater has raised $65,000 of its $100,000 goal. Cinema Paradiso has been a bastion of independent cinema and home to the world-renowned Fort Lauderdale International Film Festival. This second theater in Hollywood will be able to play more films per week and with its convenient location will draw in tourists, diners strolling past, and film buffs from southern Broward and northern Miami-Dade counties. A second fundraiser will be held at the Tipsy Boar -- a Hollywood gastropub -- on Thursday from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Admission to the "CP-H Fundraiser: Take 2" is $20 and includes two drinks plus hors d'oeuvres. There will be a silent auction, which includes prizes like a three-night weekend at the Island City House in Key West. Those with slightly deeper pockets and more generous hearts can nab a $100 dining certificate to use at Tipsy by the end of the month for a $500 donation to the theater. The Tipsy Boar is located at 1906 Harrison St. in Hollywood. Visit fliff.com.
