Generally, the words garage and gala don’t go hand in hand: unless, of course, you’re sending your chauffeur to fetch the Rolls from the garage to drive you to the gala. The Gala Gig II at the Art’s Garage is a bit more down to earth than most galas. As celebration of the venue’s 2nd anniversary, the Gala benefits the organizations educational initiatives. Starting at 7:30 p.m., guests will be treated to cocktails and light bites from local Delray Beach restaurants. Old school soul and blues, nine-piece band, Jake Mitchell and the Soul Searchers will be performing. A focal point in and of itself, Mitchell is best known for desegregating the University of Florida’s Gator Growl in 1960. Tickets are $100 per person, or $500 for a table of six. The Art’s Garage is located at 180 NE 1 St., Delray Beach. Call 561-450-6357, or visit artsgarage.org.
