Imagine, instead of ending up praying to the porcelain god at 3 a.m., by yourself, in a shabby hotel room, you could go back in time and end the evening with your redheaded drill-team-member prom date. Unless you have access to a real-life time-traveling DeLorean, that is an impossible dream, but Boca Raton comedy troupe Sick Puppies wants to offer you a second chance at prom glory. This team of local quipsters is throwing its own prom, and you are invited. Audience members are encouraged to wear a tuxedo or prom dress, with a prom king and queen selected at the end of the night. Headed by lifelong funnyman Casey Casperson (former member of Laughing Gas, the longest-running professional improvisational theater troupe in South Florida), the Sick Puppies will be improvising their way through their own version of prom night. And, like each and every one of their 90-minute spontaneous comedy shows, the Sick Puppies leave the outcome entirely up to the audience. So the choice is yours. Don’t let Ginger end up in the hands of the school’s running back for the last dance this time around. This formal night of unscripted laughs starts at 9:30 p.m. Friday at Showtimes Theater, located at 503 SE Mizner Blvd., Ste. 73, in Boca Raton. Tickets cost $20 for one and $30 for couples.
