If you didn't know that roller derby was a professional sport and didn't get to catch The Glades on A&E during season six, episode four -- now is the time to get familiar with South Florida's up-and-coming women's roller derby team, the Gold Coast Derby Grrls (GCDG). In light of the season, GCDG is hosting "The Blocky Horror Show" to add a twist to its next home game against the Gainesville Roller Rebels. Despite the play on words, the event is themed after The Rocky Horror Picture Show, in which fans are encouraged to dress the part for a halftime costume contest. Last, to commemorate a successful third season thus far, with seven wins and one loss, GCDG is extending the evening with a free afterparty for all. Whether you're a die-hard fan or a first-time spectator, come join GCDG on Saturday at the War Memorial Auditorium, located at 800 NE Eighth St., Fort Lauderdale. The afterparty will take place at the 4:30 Boardroom Bar, located at 3343 NE 32nd St. in Fort Lauderdale. Presale tickets are available at ticketmaster.com or from your favorite Derby Grrl for $10. Tickets cost $15 at the door. For more information about GCDG and the remaining games of the season, visit goldcoastderbygrrls.com. This game is a doubleheader and starts at 6 p.m. with GCDG's B-team, the Bomb Squad.
