Puppies! Visualize them. Pet one. Even just yell it at home by yourself. The joy of puppies rarely goes unnoticed. But in addition to a good belly rub, animals also need our help. Thankfully, South Florida gives us the chance to lend a helping hand to the hounds. Abandoned Pet Rescue is Fort Lauderdale's only no-kill animal shelter, and it needs your help in the most adorable way possible.
The pet-friendly organization is raising funds this weekend through its fifth-annual Cause 4 Paws event with plenty of ways to show off your favorite furry companion. You can register for the one-mile "people walk" (pets encouraged, obviously), or take a gander at the "adopt me" parade. But the part we're looking forward to the most is the dog show. No typical "best in show" categories in sight. At Cause 4 Paws, pooches will be crowned everything from Best Kisser to Most Glamorous. Cuteness overload! Get in on the doggone good fun; we know your day will be instantly brightened -- ain't no bones about it.
Cause 4 Paws is Sunday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Victoria Park, located at 2 N. Victoria Park Road in Fort Lauderdale. Admission is $5 to $30 depending on your registration level. Call 754-777-VPCA, or visit vpcause4paws.wordpress.com.
