In reality, the holiday season is never over. There is always a birthday or some other random celebration to take part in via dressing in a certain color and/or stuffing your face in a room full of other face-stuffers. But some holidays mean more than others. St. Patrick's Day might not result in accelerated intellectual stimulus, but it's not the only way to celebrate in March. March is also Youth Art Month. Youth Art Month sees thousands of schools across the country promoting art and art education among students and faculty. Pembroke Pines Charter Elementary School is teaming up with the Art and Culture Center of Hollywood to show off some of the best artists in the class with "Art as the Core." The best part is this event features art by students from kindergarten to fifth grade. No fingerpaint or macaroni sculptures in sight -- this exhibit will feature more than 100 framed artworks. The artist reception is Saturday, and while you might no longer have time for recess, you will have a chance to rest your eyes on the youngsters' hard work as this exhibit stays live through the end of the month. The "Art as the Core" artist reception is Saturday from 1 to 3 p.m., and the pieces are on view through March 30 in the Art and Culture Center's upstairs Student Gallery space, located at 1650 Harrison St. in Hollywood The Student Gallery space is presented in part by BBX Capital Foundation.
