Overindulgence. It's an American tradition, especially this time of year. But a half-dozen cookies, third slice of pie, and wafer-thin mint later, you might be looking for a way to burn the pudge. Lucky for you, there's a sedentary solution: laughing! Not only does it burn calories, but you can also do it while sitting. Laffing Matterz is kicking off its new season in the Abdo New River Room at the Broward Center for the Performing Arts with Laffing Matterz: With a Vengeance. But along with the giggles, Laffing Matterz is serving up more calories. This is America, after all. With each performance, guests can choose from entrées such as grilled mahi-mahi, butternut squash ravioli, and lamb osso buco to enjoy with their salads and challah rolls. Drinks, appetizers, and desserts will be sold separately. While you take a stab at your lamb shank, the comedians will skewer everything from Obamacare to global warming to Paula Deen. Think of it as Saturday Night Live but with more singing and less sucking. Tickets cost $63 for the Thursday, Friday, and Sunday performances. Tickets to Saturday shows are $69. Laffing Matterz: With a Vengeance runs Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays at 7:30 p.m. Sunday shows are scheduled for 4:30 p.m. The Broward Center is located at 201 SW Fifth Ave. in Fort Lauderdale. Tickets and show dates are available via browardcenter.org or by calling 954-462-0222.
Thursdays-Saturdays, 7:30 p.m.; Sundays, 4:30 p.m. Starts: Dec. 12. Continues through March 16, 2013
