The Vaudevillian performance art of burlesque has seen a resurgence in the past decade or so. Scantily clad, come-hither ladies donning nipple pasties and whirling feather boas -- really, what's not to love here? Every major city has its own burlesque troupe or two nowadays. And of all the world's performers, there is but one that reigns supreme: Dita Von Teese. Touted as the "International Queen of Burlesque," Teese (born Heather Renée Sweet) has teased audiences and earned her reputation (and caught the eye of former glam-goth rock-star husband Marilyn Manson) with seductive performances inside giant martini glasses and clawfoot bathtubs with working showerheads. The City of Fort Lauderdale stands to get lucky this week when Von Teese and her coquettish ways pays it a visit. With decadent corsets and a revamped martini glass, she'll be treating the crowd to a revealing, sensuous 90 minutes that's sure to heighten arousal.
Catch the burlesque queen on Thursday and Friday at 7:30 p.m. at Revolution Live, located at 100 SW Third Ave. in Fort Lauderdale. Tickets cost $35 to $75. Tables cost $100 per seat. Call 954-449-1025, or visit jointherevolution.net.
