This is the one time it is okay to get excited about a case of the crabs, so take advantage! The second annual Key Largo Stone Crab festival kicks off Jan 29-30 at

Rowell's Marina, mile marker 104.5, on the bay side of the island. For

just $5 per person admission (kids under 12 are free) you get access to

fresh local seafood, cooking demonstrations, and something fun for every

one in the family.

Held each year on the last weekend of January, the festival is sponsored

by the Key Largo Fisheries and Key Largo Merchant Association. Part of

the proceeds will benefit Florida Keys Youth Sports.

Where else can you eat fresh stone crab, take the kids to see a magic

show, learn how to make Florida Keys staples like crab cakes and coconut

mahi-mahi, and enjoy a night of fireworks all in one day?

Not to mention there will also be a car show on Sunday night, a kids'

fishing tournament, pirate demonstrations, arts and crafts, a Junkanoo

band, and eating contests. If that isn't a recipe for a good weekend,

then I don't know what is.

Festival hours are 11 a.m. - 8 p.m. on Sat, and 11 a.m. - 4 p.m. on Sun. For more information visit: www.fkrm.com/crabandseafood.
