Ra Sushi could possibly be the most hopping place in Pembroke Pines. Walk in just about any night of the week to see just about every table occupied by people who come not only for the sushi, but for the lively atmosphere and Asian-fusion decor.  We spoke with Meagen Diaz about Ra, school and why she wants to be a detective.

Clean Plate Charlie: How long have you been at Ra Sushi?

Meagen Diaz: I've been here six months. I go to BCC and study Criminal Justice. My dad's a police officer and my brother's in the military, so that's what I want to do, too. I have less than a year left.

Do you like working at Ra?

Before I started working here I used to come here all the time. I was working at a sports bar and I asked the manager at Ra if they were hiring. I love it here. The management is wonderful and I have flexibility in my schedule, which is important to me.

What's your favorite item on the menu?

The Viva Las Vegas roll. I actually wasn't a big sushi fan until I started working here. Now I'm obsessed with sushi.

Ra can get really busy. How do you handle being slammed?

It can get really hectic, but I'd much rather be slammed - it's when I make the most money.

What's your favorite drink?

The Tsunami Punch. Oh my gosh - it has a little of everything in it. Southern Comfort, sake, liquors and tropical juices. It's served in a fish bowl.
