Here's one instance where drinking beers and eating Buffalo wings is the socially conscious thing to do.

Neighborhood Sports Bar and Grill -- Boca's newest sports bar at 6450 N. Federal Highway -- will be helping out our servicemen and -women on Sunday, October 17, and you can help too.

All you have to do is come down between 12:30 and 6 p.m. for "Be a Sport, Support Our Soldiers," an event to raise money, food, and supplies for the Forgotten Soldier Outreach.

Since 2003, FSO has sent monthly "We Care" packages to our soldiers

serving overseas. The organization has helped more than 100,000 military

personnel experience a little taste of home.

To assist the

organization in its goal, Neighborhood Sports Bar is organizing live

games and contests and a midday buffet, with proceeds benefiting FSO.

Chief among them is a pigskin toss in which football fans can test their

quarterbacking skills. Each throw costs $1, and if you score like a pro,

you'll get 15 percent off your next check at the Sports Bar.

Sports

fans will also get 15 percent off if they bring in more than four items

for soldiers in need. FSO recommends donations such as beef jerky,

batteries, powdered drink mixes, disposable cameras, baby wipes, travel-sized mouthwash, baby powder, dental floss, and shaving cream.

Neighborhood Sports Bar will also put out a buffet for $15 a head, with one-third of the proceeds benefiting FSO.
