Surely, you all know by now that New Times' annual food and wine event, Pairings, is coming right up Thursday, September 13. Cruise through the Broward County Convention Center and try food samples from all the best local restaurants, paired with a vintage specially selected by boutique wine shop Wine Watch.

We're giving away tickets here on Clean Plate Charlie between now and the event. This week, we asked readers to send in brown bag doodles to enter our contest.

And the winner of a pair of VIP tickets is... Michelle Ruda. Michelle's entry was literally the last one we received right under the wire. But her work blew the rest of the competition away.

But we also had another entry that tugged at our heartstrings.

Natalia Almengor's daughter drew colored her own lunch bag. It's a picture of her mom, Natalia, drinking on the beach. We decided this deserved a pair of general admission passes. Of course, Pairings is a strictly 21 and over event so we hope Natalia gets her daughter something nice for snagging her the tickets.

Visit the official Pairings page for more information. General admission is $50 online (until noon September 13) or $60 at the door. A VIP pass is $90 online or $100 at the door gets you in an hour early, a larger wine glass for gratuitous sampling, and admission to the VIP lounge where you'll find comfortable seating and some specially selected food and wine pairings.
