Mamas shouldn't let their babies grow up to be cowboys, this is true. But chocolatiers?
That would be sweet.
If you have a budding chocolatier in your house, or you imagine you can control your little angel when he/she goes starts bouncing off the walls on a king-size sugar high, then Schakolad Chocolate Factory (7740 Nova Dr., 954-472-6155) in Davie has just what you're looking for.
They're 45-minute classes that will show your charming bundle of
cavities the journey of chocolate, from bean to bar. On the menu are a
(very) brief history of the art of chocolate-making; a tasting of white,
milk and dark chocolates; the chance to make a chocolate "pizza" that
the kiddies can garnish to their sweet teeth's content, plus a trio of
other chocolate-dipped treats; and creation of a goodie bag to haul
their loot home in.
Classes will be held this Friday at 1 p.m.,
then on successive Thursdays, Aug. 4, 11 and 18, at 11 a.m., also on
Tuesday, Aug. 16, at 4 p.m. They're cheap too, only $9.50 per kid,
though you do need to register by calling 954-472-6155 or shooting an
email to [email protected].
