Now that we know it's going to be the New Orleans Saints against the Indianapolis Colts, the official buildup to Super Bowl 44 is on. After yesterday's amazing NFC Championship game, the game on February 7 has a lot to live up to. But where can you go where you can not only watch the Big Game but get some Big Eats in the process?
Charlie's list of Super Bowl-friendly restaurants will serve as your guide to all game-related eating. We've got a few places listed after the jump but will continually update this post with new information as we get it. Morton's: The Steakhouse: The Chicago-based temple of beef is offering a $5 bar bites menu along with specialty themed (and priced) drinks at each of its South Florida locations. In addition to the bar area LCDs, Morton's will show the game on nine-foot screens in private rooms.
Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino: The casino will hold a week's worth of events leading up to the Super Bowl, from concerts with B.B. King and Buddy Guy to late-night parties hosted by Jamie Foxx. On Super Sunday, former Dolphins Coach Jimmie Johnson will host a Super Bowl Brunch at 10:30 a.m. with a Q&A and silent auction to benefit charity. Tickets cost $150 a seat. Later in the day, the casino will host what it calls the "largest Big Game watch party in South Florida," complete with grandstand seating and VIP areas.
Bokamper's Sports bar & Grill: The restaurant features more than 65 televisions plus two giant 10-by-12-foot screens to watch the game. If you go with friends, you can even try to tackle the beast, a five-pound burger that's free if you eat it in one hour.
Bru's Room: Ex-Dolphin Bob Brudzinski's sports bar chain is known for decent bar food and a plethora of screens at each of its locations. Expect the restaurants to be mobbed, but if you get there early and grab a good table, it's the kind of place you can hole up in all day and be well taken care of.
Champps Americana: The big sell at Champps is that during regular-season games, the upscale sports grill will figure out what games you want to watch, then triangulate a table where you can see each of them unobstructed. Since there's only one game on February 7, that point is moot. But Champps is a fairly comfortable and significantly less rowdy take on the sports bar, with cheap drinks and some decent burgers. Other menu items are hit-and-miss.
Emeril's Miami Beach: The N'awlins chef's eatery will host a tailgate party starting at 4:30 p.m. featuring New Orleans game day favorites (Gulf Fish Court Bouillon with Grits, New Orleans Muffalettas, Chicken & Sausage Gumbo, Kicked Up Chili, Emeril's King Cake) and an open bar.
Entry is $125 per person includes all food, beer, wines and cocktails, and gratuity. Six large screens will ensure guests don't miss any of the action.
