Margie Pikarsky is the organic farming guru behind Bee Heaven Farms located deep in the Redland in South Dade County Florida. She has hit the New Times radar before: Click here to read what we've written about her in the past.
Margie Pikarsky operates her farm with the help of WWOOF volunteers. WWOOF stands for Willing Workers On Organic Farms. WWOOF volunteers donate their time to working the farm each day in exchange for food and a place to stay.
Bee Heaven also participates in a CSA program which stands for Community Supported Agriculture. Basically you pay a yearly fee in exchange for a weekly cut of the farm's fresh, organic produce. Generally I'm not a tomatoes biggest fan, but those little red bastards in the top left corner of the bottom bin in the above picture were the most explosively flavorful and juicy fuckin things I've ever tasted. Margie and her fine selection of organics can be found at the Pinecrest Farmer's market (US1 at SW 124 St. in front of Gardner's Market).
