If you've always dreamed of going to culinary school (or know of a teen who spends more time in the kitchen than at the mall), the International Culinary School at the Art Institute of Fort Lauderdale has two culinary scholarship competitions you should check out.

The Art Institute's Best Teen Chef Competition allows high school seniors with culinary skills to compete for a $4,000 tuition scholarship. The High School Graduate category allows high school graduates the same opportunity. Each competition is very much like a live Top Chef episode.

Aspiring chefs will compete in the Art Institute kitchen, where they

will be rated on knife skills, food safety, plating, food texture, and

taste, among other criteria. Each Art Institute will name its own

winners in an awards ceremony, meaning that local chefs will have the

opportunity to win without having to compete nationally.

A first-place and second-place winner will be named in each category.

To be eligible to enter the competition, entrants must submit a completed entry and release form

by February 3 to the International Culinary School at the Art

Institute of Fort Lauderdale. Entrants will then be asked to complete a full entry package, which is due February 24. Selected entrants will progress to

Local Cook-Off Competitions at the International Culinary School at the

Art Institute of Fort Lauderdale on April 21.
