Sef Gonzalez has turned eating burgers into a mission and a career.
The man behind the popular food blog Burger Beast has become a food critic, blogger, food-truck-roundup promoter, and host of his own annual award, the Burgies.
The third-annual Burger Beast Burgie Awards is tonight at Miami's Magic City Casino.
South Florida's best restaurants and food trucks will submit their
hamburgers for judging by a panel of food experts, bloggers, and other
meat lovers (including yours truly) for the titles of Best Burger 2011 and Best Food Truck Burger 2011.
In addition, 40 food trucks and a host of restaurants will be set up
outside the casino, selling their food and burgers, in case you want to
try for yourself.
Several restaurateurs from Broward County will be making the drive down
to Miami to compete for the title. They will also have tents set up to
sell their wares.
Broward favorites include Charm City Burger Company (Deerfield Beach),
Georgie's Alibi (Wilton Manors),
Gilbert's 17th Street Grill (Fort Lauderdale), and
Quickie's Burgers & Wings (Hollywood).
The Burger Beast Burgie Awards are tonight, November 19, from 5 to 9 p.m. at Magic City Casino in Miami. Admission is free. (Facebook RSVP here).
