After judging more than 1,650 beers in over 65 categories -- well, after that, the judges probably needed a day or two to sleep it off. But instead, the judges of the United States Open Beer Championship rallied and announced the winners.

Local brewery and beer institution Big Bear Brewing Co. in Coral Springs brought home three medals in three categories.

Gold - Polar Light (German Kolsch)
Silver - Grizzly Red (Irish Red Ale)
Bronze - Smokey the Bear (Smoked/Rauch Beer)

Head over there this weekend and try one or all three. And don't forget to order the Beer Cheese Muenster Soup -- it's made with the Grizzly Red.
