100 Montaditos opens in Pembroke Pines.

100 Montaditos, the fast-casual restaurant that features sandwiches starting at a buck, is rapidly taking over south Florida.

The chain, which originated in Huelva, Spain, already has several Miami locations and one in Pembroke Pines. With world domination in mind, 100 Montaditos has announced the opening of its newest location at the Fountains shopping center in Plantation (801 S. University Drive), with more sandwich shops to come in the next few months.

The shop offers 100 different types of mini sandwiches, or montaditos (hence the name), each priced between $1 and $3.

Sandwiches for a buck include simple offerings like ham, peanut butter

and jam, and smoked salmon. $1.50 gets you several roast beef and tuna

options, as well as grilled

chicken, grilled ham, and guava and cream cheese. Mini burgers and hot

dogs cost $2 each, and $3 will get you fancy choices like duck mousse.

Since

the Plantation restaurant is so close to Nova Southeastern University,

100 Montaditos is offering an introductory student special. Every Monday

from 6 p.m. to 1 a.m. through mid-August, students from any school who

show a student ID can choose any montadito for $1.

If you're no longer in school, but are paying off a student loan and can use a bargain bite, drop in on Dollarmania Wednesdays

when all montaditos, draft beers, sangria, claras (beer mixed with

lemon-lime soda), and tintos de verano (red wine mixed with lemon-lime

soda) are only $1.

Not enough? Then visit on Thirsty Thursdays

when draft beers and sangrias are only a dollar with the purchase of a

montadito or come down on Doublefever Fridays, when patrons can get two

five-bottle buckets of Mahou beer for $15.

Whew! With specials like those, this is one invasion we're totally into.
