Numonics, the local hip-hop producer born Jonathan Rosenfeld, is on a hot streak. In the past couple of months, he's released a handful of new albums -- two with local artists, Knowledge Medina and J. NICs, and two with out-of-towners, Co$$ (repping Los Angeles) and REKS (from Lawrence, Massachusetts). At the same time, Numonics has also revived the Rising, the concert series he created in 2010 to push forward the local boom-bap scene. The Rising returns tomorrow night as part of the free Brown Bag Wednesdays party at Green Room.

Unsurprisingly, the bill features a cast of frequent Numonics collaborators, REKS and Knowledge Medina among them. (See our previous blog entries about the Knowledge Medina album here.) But one of the performers we're most eager to see is Saheed, an almost-23-year-old MC who distinguished himself early for a fierce, searing style. His last high-profile appearance was at Revolution last month, where he opened the evening for Joe Budden's super-ish-group Slaughterhouse.

Some new material from Saheed is long overdue, and in recent weeks, he's been working with Numonics and fellow local MC LMS on a forthcoming collaborative album. "Both Saheed and LMS are versatile and intellingent MCs. I have known both for years and I feel they truly represent the talent and skill that resides in South Florida," says Numonics. "The album will feature them both as individual artists and on the same track. The album showcases the incredible range of both artists by having everything from aggressive songs to introspective ones."

Unfortunately, LMS won't be performing at Green Room tomorrow, but Saheed will be, and hopefully he'll unveil at least one of these new tracks. You'll have to show up to see, but in the meantime check out his 2010 video for "The Ups."

The Rising Meets Brown Bag Wednesdays. With Sene, Reks, Saheed, Knowledge Medina, and DJs Immortal, heron, and Element. The event is hosted by Dynas. 10 p.m. Wednesday, April 11 at Green Room, 109 SW 2nd Ave., Fort Lauderdale. Admission is free; age 21 and up. Click here.
