Spinner.com recently released its list of the "50 greatest guitar riffs in rock 'n' roll." It summed up a riff nicely by calling them "basic building blocks of rock 'n' roll."

Riffs are much more than building blocks. They have emotional significance. They're the chords that people remember decades later. They're the sounds that bring a girl back to her first kiss, a guy to his first car. Riffs are our memories.

And this is a damned good list.

Of course, Nirvana's "Smells Like Teen Spirit" made the list as well as the Temptation's "My Girl." But commenters are mad despite the fact that author Jason Persse stated from the beginning that "no list of 'bests' is going to please everyone."

One commenter even went so far as to ask Persse if he got paid for "being so wrong." Heck, that's much nicer than the comments we receive on a daily basis.

We can tell you from experience with 311 fans that that's very true. We also know how easy it is to piss off Beatles' fans.

Now we want your opinion: Who would you add to this list? Who do you think doesn't deserve a spot on the list?

And do you think the Rolling Stones deserve the number-one spot?
