Avant-garde pop sensation and New Times' Best Male Rock Vocalist winner Mike Mineo is diligently wrapping up his next album at Pompano Beach's Power Station Studios in the new year. Beach Guava is scheduled for release on March 25, with plans for a CD release shindig on said date at Lake Worth's Propaganda.
The virtuosic musician says that the 14-track album is a dedication to all the
inspiration South Florida's sandy beaches has given him. "The album
starts with a sun rise and ends with a night beach jam celebration, you
can practically hear the waves and feel the sea breeze in all the
songs," he says. With track listings such as "Subtropic Sunrise ,"
"Mirage," and "Inner-Light Rebellion," this is going to be great beach
bonfire fare.
Additionally, Mineo is heading up to Nashville to record at Jay's Place, a fully analog studio, this weekend to record yet another project -- a six-track EP for English label Fullfill. He says that the affair will be focusing on his neo-soul side shown in the track "Believe," which piqued the label's interest. Mineo's brother Johnny will be along to help out on bass, ex-girlfriend Oksana Pankiv will lend cello support, and engineer pal Scotty Rollins is there to fill out the lineup on drums. Additionally, New Times contributor Alex Markow will be along for the ride, so look for more details about the trip soon.
