That's right, the "Rock the Bells" 2011 tour will be making a stop at the Fillmore Theater in Miami on September 13. With confirmed headliners Ghostface, Raekwon, and the infamous Mobb Deep, it would be insane not to attend on principle alone. We like you, though, and so we'll reinforce the notion with some facts.
For starters, the ticket price has been set at a meager $30.
You could play the odds of seeing one of these hip-hop luminaries in a random club
appearance, but we don't recommend it. Think of your expenses: a fly-ass
outfit, alligator shoes, a flashy new chain (that would more than
likely get snatched away from your bitch ass anyway), drinks for these
girls who won't be going home with your broke ass, and that bottle
service. You ever feel good about paying 150 bucks for a bottle of
Absolut? That shit ain't baller -- it's just dumb. We fully understand
that staying fresh comes at a high price these days, so save your wallet
the stress and see them at this traveling festival.
As previously stated, the "Emerald Wizard" himself, AKA "Volcano Hands
Deini," AKA "The Mighty Hands of Zeus," AKA "The Wallaby Champ,"
Ghostface will be performing on the main stage. Just days ago, T-Starks
posted his Third Annual Softest Niggas in the Game, a comprehensive list of this year's weakest MCs. The content of this post alone, from his official blog, should force you to go. A sample from one of his entries on Drake below:
Bear witness to the wisdom and be cured of your perpetual wackness. I mean, the man had the first verse on the first album from the now-legendary Wu-Tang Clan. This veteran of hip-hop hasn't lost his touch either, having dropped his new album, Apollo Kids, earlier this year. The man can back up every bit of shit that he talks on his blog, which is a rarity. He can be summarized in a single word: unfuckwithable.
Further adding to the hype is the addition of fellow Wu-Tang member Raekwon. He made waves in recent years with the long-awaited release of Only Built for Cuban Linx Pt. II, the sequel to his seminal solo record Only Built for Cuban Linx. These two, when paired together, form the strongest duo in the history of hip-hop. Regularly appearing on each other's records, Ghostface and Raekwon have a synergy that is unmatched, but don't misunderstand us: Raekwon is a beast on his own, as you'll see in September.
And in what seems like a complete curve ball, it was has been announced that Mobb Deep will also be appearing. Prodigy has returned from jail, released a book, and rejoined the group that birthed his musical career. After spending three years locked up, he's hit the ground running alongside Mobb Deep cofounder Havoc. The group made a name for itself in the '90s with the release of what is considered a mainstay in the genre, The Infamous. Passing up an opportunity to see them perform together like this, after so long, would be insanely foolish.
