There is certainly no shortage of musical festivals happening around the country; even our sister city of Miami has the annual electronic extravaganza Ultra. But down here in Fort Lauderdale, we've often been left off the festival map. Until now.

On April 20, the local creative collective known as Subculture will transform the triplex of Revolution, Green Room, and America's Backyard into a  festival that will cater to a variety of music scenes and evoke a sense of nostalgia with its eight-bit theme.

The folks from national music blog Consequence of Sound and Subculture will take over Revolution, while Black Locust Society brings its Swarm experience to America's Backyard, and we, County Grind, will partner with Limited Fanfare Records, Radio-Active Records, and South Florida Music Obsessed in the Green Room.

Brooklyn's DFA duo Holy Ghost! will headline the festival alongside an assortment of national and local acts. According to Subculture, there are still a few surprise guests to be announced at a later date.
