As the now-canceled Langerado Music Festival has split up into bookings around South Florida, there is still a two-day festival combining a wealth of national talent coming to Florida later this year -- albeit mid-Florida -- courtesy of the Orlando Calling Music Festival on November 12 and 13.
The initial lineup is a strong mix of bands for a younger crowd including the Pixies, the Killers, and the Roots on the first day and Bob Seger, Kid Rock, and the Doobie Brothers for a ton of cool uncles and aunts on day two. Now, both days are expanding even further.
Kid Cudi (pictured at right), a hip-hop performer who prefers to deliver his verses sing-song style instead of rapping, leads this new slate of performers for Saturday. And in spite of what the image might suggest about him, dude is actually pretty mellow in his delivery.
Part of what Cudi has gotten on about lately is Man on the Moon II: Legend of Mr. Rager, his second album that defies simple genre classification. It's more like a rock opera than a hip-hop record, but it's also a good bit of neither of those things. Take the new video for "Mr. Rager," which just recently hit the web.

Cudi, born Scott Mescudi, definitely has some acting flair in him. Even if his HBO series, How to Make It in America, didn't ignite, the clip above shows that he has bits of Bruce Lee and Christian Bale in him as an action (anti)hero with some depth. And, whether he's wearing thick-rimmed glasses or not, this is a compelling add to the Orlando Calling slate.Along with Cudi, Saturday, November 12, will now feature (with new additions in bold:
the Killers, the Pixies, Avett Brothers, the Roots, the Raconteurs,
Gogol Bordello, O.A.R., Gavin DeGraw, Iron & Wine, Drive-By
Truckers, Local Natives, Pete
Yorn, Jenny & Johnny, Civil Twilight, Lucero, Dr. Dog, Justin
Townes Earle, Ben Sollee, Renee & the Translators, the Felice
Brothers, Kid Cudi, Kids These Days, Parachute, the Deep Dark Woods, States, Jessica Hernandez & the Deltas, Kaleigh Baker, Le Blorr, Jubal's Kin, Andy Matchett & the Minks, and Danny Leggett.
A notable addition to Sunday's lineup is Jason Isbell & the 400 Unit. Isbell, a longtime member of the Drive-By Truckers, has fronted his own outfit for more than four years and has released three studio albums of Southern rock in that period. In addition to their own rough-hewn material, the band isn't afraid to cut into a cover or two. Here's a fiery version of the Talking Heads' "Psycho Killer."
Including Isbell & the 400 Unit, Sunday, November 13, will feature (newbies in bold): Bob Seger & the Silver Bullet Band, Kid Rock &
Twisted Brown Trucker, Doobie Brothers, Blake Shelton, Buddy Guy, Warren Haynes Band, Chris
Isaak, Dwight Yoakam, Robert Randolph & the Family Band, the
Flatlanders, Los Lonely Boys, Blues Traveler, Brandi Carlile, the Supervillains, the David
Mayfield Parade, Michelle Branch, Elizabeth Cook, Jason Isbell & the 400 Unit, the Apache Relay, Aunt Martha, Quiet Company, Gonzo Jones, Thomas Wynn & the Believers, Big 10-4, and Savannah.
